Federal Program Enables Small Business Projects

by Bob Turek on October 31st, 2007

For all you project managers in small companies with even smaller budgets consider the Manufacturing Extension Partnership program. It is a Federal program that funds about 60 centers throughout the United States designed to help small manufacturers and distributors with consulting in areas like lean, quality, and information technology. The Southern California center, California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC), even has a program funded by local utilities like Southern California Edison designed to mix energy savings programs with lean manufacturing programs. Very small businesses can benefit from excellent assessment/business planning services. If you want “big” company consulting on a small company budget look for these centers in your area.

Anybody with experiences, good or bad, with MEP centers is encouraged to comment.
