Assess Your Greeness
By now you know that I’m not a fan of some of the rationale behind global warming, the effect it has had on some industries, and the programs and projects that are being spun off. However, it’s here to stay and we all are going to have to deal with carbon footprint measurement, regulatory changes, and marketing to satisfy the appetite for “green”.
Companies that are interested in technology enabling business processes related to a green strategy, like the one I work for (Infor), are coming out with brief green assessments that do a good job of structuring your thinking in this area. They also attempt to give you an overall idea of your progress, related to other companies, in pursuing green initiatives.
Like I said, “green” is here to stay. The question is how much of an impact it will have. So, it might be useful to take an assessment or two from these “knowledge brokers” to see not only what is going on but to begin to put a logical outline around your green strategy.
How do you find out about “new” market strategies and whether to pursue them? Do you have a PMO-like function that goes outside your business and your industry to research what companies are doing to satisfy the demand for “green” strategies? How about other strategies and initiatives?
